Argument for Katz

Since Nicole is coming to visit in November, I thought that I would espouse the greatness of Katz's Deli to her (and use this as an excuse to post pictures). Brian and I love Katz's Deli. It is uber-delicious. We were there recently with Randy and Pat, friends of Brian's parents who were just passing through after a cruise. This is Katz's: The deli has been around since 1888 and serves the best pastrami I have ever had. They also have Celery soda. I know that it sounds weird but ever since they gave it to Brian by mistake once I have been obsessed with it (he gave it to me after he determined that he didn't like it). This is what their fries look like: Here is what was left of my sandwich when I realized that I should take a picture: Also, when we were there an Elvis impersonator showed up and entertained the crowd. It was much fun. I am sorry that the photo is blurry; I was giggling. Anybody else have ideas of things Nicole should do while she is here?

Alicia Has a Cold

Now I have a cold. When I went into work today it turns out that the woman who sits next to me is sick now too. I apologized to her for getting her sick. She said, "That's okay. However, your apology does not negate your liability." You gotta love lawyers.

Livia Has a Cold

We are officially obsessed with this cat. She is adorable. Unfortunately, she has a nasty cold. She sneezes all the time and the sounds her throat makes when she eats are like something out of a monster movie. Poor thing. We have her on medication from the vet. The funny thing is that while I am not allergic to her, I am allergic to penicillin. Livia is on amoxicillin right now and I already broke out in hives when a bit of it got on me. Hopefully she will get well soon so that I can stop living in fear of the pink bottle in the refrigerator. This whole post was an excuse for me to post another picture of her. ADORABLE.

The Rest of My Birthday Present

So, as it turns out, working all day is exhausting. By the time that I get home from work, eat and play with the cat, it is time for bed. So, blogging has fallen by the wayside. Today, I am finally posting pictures of other parts of my birthday present from Brian. He really is terrific. First, he decorated the entire apartment with Halloween stuff (my favorite holiday). There were cobwebs, streamers, plastic pumpkins, gothic chalices, a witch's hat hanging from the ceiling and giant cauldron holding my presents. He went above and beyond. This was one of the decorations hanging from the ceiling. When you pull on it the whole thing dances around and giggles. It cracks me up: He also bought me flowers and new vases! I wanted this vase (it has a matching little one): Here are the big pumpkins on the table: He got me an orange Ugly Doll! I love these: He also made me a cake in the shape of a pumpkin, got me Season 3 of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, a book on typog

South Park Season 12 Has Begun

Brian and I finally had the chance to watch the season premiere of South Park. They now let you watch new episodes online on their website . The new episode very aptly stated my feelings about the last Indiana Jones movie. I thought it was so funny that I almost fell off the couch. I love Southpark. It offensive in a culturally intelligent way. Too funny.

Happy Birthday to Me!

Yesterday was my birthday. It was good fun with great food, horror movies (my favorite) and presents. Thank you to everyone who sent me presents and cards! I love all of my gifts! The most surprising gift of all was my present from Brian. He bought me a cat. Of course, we have had her for almost a week so it wasn't a surprise. However, we wanted to make sure I wouldn't be allergic. I'm sorry I haven't posted pictures until now. I was just nervous that I was going to jinx myself and develop an allergy. Luckily the worst that has happened are sneezes. I don't think they are allergy related though; the cat has been sneezing too! She has been kicking up dust exploring areas of the apartment that Brian and I do not frequent. She has an adorable sneeze that sprays everything around her. The Decision to Get a Cat Last weekend Brian suggested that we get a cat as my birthday present. We both immediately became obsessed with the idea. I began searching the int

Love the New Job

The first stressful, tiring week at my new job is over. Actually, it isn't very stressful in itself. I merely get stressed over the possibility of being late to work. As I said before, it is a temporary job doing legal research for Bloomberg (the company, not the mayor). I thought I could best talk about the new job as a pros and cons list: PROS: It is in Midtown with lots of awesome little places to get food and stores like Barnes and Noble in easy walking distance. My first day I walked to the U.N. during lunch. I love that I can do that. I walked to Bryant Park another day. Every morning I get to walk through the main terminal of Grand Central Station and look up at that ceiling. I also get to walk through the MetLife Building which is less impressive but still pretty cool. Working all day makes the diet much easier. Everyone I work with is really nice and fun to be around. I spend a lot of the day laughing and enjoying myself. On Friday they gave us free pastries and cof
