Update: Star Trek II is Awesome!

I know that I just posted about how horrible Star Trek the Motion Picture was. Well, tonight Brian and I watched Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan . It was awesome. We loved every minute of it. If you have not seen it, you should. It has action, a great plot, nostalgia and good acting. I am quickly becoming a Trekkie. I have already started googling conventions to see if there are any in the New York area that I can attend. Am I pathetic or have I just finally seen the light?

Movies I Watched Last Night

Star Trek the Motion Picture (1979) It was such a slow movie that fans have nicknamed it the "Slow Motion Picture." I was thoroughly disappointed in this movie because I loved the first season of Star Trek and I love the later Star Trek movies. The camera focused on shots of space for overly long periods of time, so much so that Brian fell asleep in the first half hour. The movie would have been better if it had been cut to the length of one episode. The Strangers (2008) Good scary and fun film. Basic plot is that a couple, played by Liv Tyler and Scott Speedman, are having problems and are up late at night. There is a knock on the door and a creepy girl asks for someone who doesn't live in the house. This girl and her friends, wearing creepy masks, spend the whole night terrorizing the couple. It was pretty simple. The only thing that bothers me about the movie was the intro that claimed it was "inspired" by a true story. It wasn't. I will nev

Madoff Archery

I was perusing Craigslist this morning when I came across an advertisement that made me laugh: "Take out your frustrations or frame for posterity, this one of a kind hand drawn Bernard Madoff archery target. Official FICA target face with Madoff's unforgettable likeness painted by accomplished artist." It is going for $100. It reminds me of the dartboard I made in college with Bush's face on it. Of course this one is much better quality. I simply printed a picture off on my inkjet printer and taped it over my dartboard. This version is far superior and I would totally want one if Madoff had stolen all of my money. Of course, in that situation, I would not be able to afford $100 art.

Ridiculous

Brian and I went to look at an apartment the other day. It is not too far from where we live and we thought it would be interesting to see what the place was like. It was reasonably priced for a new building with new appliances and a washer and dryer. Unfortunately I did not take pictures while we took a tour of the building. I wish I had. Instead I went back later to take pictures of the outside so thatI could tell you about it. The one bedroom apartment that they had available was two floors. The top floor had a kitchen and living room and was right at street level. You can see the bottom floor in the picture above. One of the windows is already etched with graffiti. Having every passerby see into your kitchen isn't the worst part though. Recall that I said that this was the top floor. The bedroom is in the basement. You walk down a flight of stairs next to the kitchen to go down to the bedroom. The bedroom was smallish, only big enough to house a queen size bed and

Brian is Silly

We were supposed to go shopping for wedding stuff, like dresses, tuxes and accessories. Instead, we only made it to the Amazing Savings down the street. We said, "Let's go see if they have an more awesome cheap invitation supplies again" (we got hundreds of sheets of white cardstock at the store for just a few dollars). Instead, Brian spotted this toy and had to have it. Apparently it goes for $45 on Amazon but Brian bought it for $20. Here is an action shot of Brian shooting at me. Here is the machine that came with the dart guns. It shoots out discs that you shoot out of the air. We have had more fun just shooting each other with the dart guns. Brian for instance has taken to playing Russian Roulette ala Deer Hunter. I have "died" every time. Brian is having a lot of fun with this thing. So much for wedding shopping. Brian is easily distracted and easily amused. It was snowing anyways. :)

Sorry I'm Lazy

I have been lazy. I think it has been about a month since I have posted. In all honesty, I couldn't think of anything that I particularly wanted to post about! So now you are forced to read a list of the general goings on: Clearly, I should explain the above photo first. It is snowing today and I caught a picture of Brian in the snow with a flabbergasted sort of look that I believe is fitting for how long it has been since I last posted. Christmas was great. I got lots of awesome presents including, but not limited to: books by Neil Gaiman, a book of pictures of LOL cats, Planet Earth Monopoly, chocolate, ear muffs, The Nine by Jeffery Toobin, a book by Sandra Day O'Connor, a new purse, orange and red dish set, Legos, a stainless steel waterbottle, a Mad Hatter pillbox, etc. My temporary position at Bloomberg came to an end and I am currently looking for a job again. Oddly enough, I'm not really upset about it. Brian actually says that I am happier than I have been
