Star Trek the Motion Picture (1979)
It was such a slow movie that fans have nicknamed it the "Slow Motion Picture." I was thoroughly disappointed in this movie because I loved the first season of Star Trek and I love the later Star Trek movies. The camera focused on shots of space for overly long periods of time, so much so that Brian fell asleep in the first half hour. The movie would have been better if it had been cut to the length of one episode.
The Strangers (2008)
Good scary and fun film. Basic plot is that a couple, played by Liv Tyler and Scott Speedman, are having problems and are up late at night. There is a knock on the door and a creepy girl asks for someone who doesn't live in the house. This girl and her friends, wearing creepy masks, spend the whole night terrorizing the couple. It was pretty simple. The only thing that bothers me about the movie was the intro that claimed it was "inspired" by a true story. It wasn't. I will never understand why directors feel the need to lie to the audience about things like that. I think I would have liked the movie more if they would have said nothing about the plot origin.
