Brian and I braved the crowds on Labor Day to see the waterfalls from the South Street Seaport. From that view all four of the waterfalls are visible. The waterfalls are only up for a couple of months and I wanted to see them before they went away.
They were created by artist Olafur Eliasson. They range from 90 to 120 in height and are located in four places along the Hudson and on Governor's Island.
I took pictures of each one from the deck at the seaport. This picture above is of the waterfall under the Brooklyn Bridge.
This one is on Governor's Island.
The waterfall above is on the Brooklyn side of the East River.
This final one is just up river from the seaport. They were pretty interesting to see. They have sparked a bit of controversy here in New York, as some people are calling for them to be shut off due to the death of trees around them. I guess that the salt water is affecting the vegetation. I think they make the river more interesting, i only for a short time.
